History

The beginning or the Children’s Science Centre “TEHNOANNAS PAGRABI” was in March 1995, when the group of teachers from the Centre of Creative Learning (now - “ANNAS 2”) as volunteers organized the one week’s entertaining show for children. It got enormous popularity around the whole country and the same shows were repeated on Christmas 1995 and 1996.

Exposition

The exposition of the first show consisted mainly of mobile wooden toys, which had been made originally by the teachers at the carpenter’s workshops.
The next exposition added things, which had connection with different sciences as physics, chemistry, medicine etc. There were mobile wooden toys again, but there were different mirror effects, big video kaleidoscopes and enormous camera, basin with radio ships, medicine room, “electronic man” and many other exhibits too.
The third show supplemented with expositions from the Swedish science exhibition in Riga. There were some elements of theatre on the third show – horror tower with monk. The monk became a very popular person, because he scared the children, but he showed the miniature theatre too.
During the period of one week’s show several hundreds of people visited our exhibition.

Evolution

Our show got the popularity, thus we decided to make the constant exhibition. We got a void space near the Centre of Creative Learning . This place consisted of a neglected cellar and a hall. Thanks to the financial support of the Centre of Creative Learning and the Riga School Board the repairs started in 1997 and finished in March 1999. It was the Soros Fund Latvia, which sponsored a part of our project for obtaining the equipment. At the same time the new exposits were made and methodical work continued
